[Linux] How-To Install ZSH

zsh is an improvement upon bash, it makes Terminal easier to use.

In this tuts, we’ll get a look how to install zsh and oh-my-zsh.

Installing zsh:

For Debian based distros:

$ sudo apt-get update -y
$ sudo apt-get install -y zsh

For RedHat based distros:

$ sudo yum update -y
$ sudo yum install -y zsh

Installing oh-my-zsh:

oh-my-zsh is a set configurations for zsh. check it on GitHub !

wget https://github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/raw/master/tools/install.sh -O - | zsh

Change your shell to zsh:

$ chsh -s `which zsh`

and then restart:

$ sudo shutdown -r 0

You can configure zsh by editing .zshrc file in your home directory
