[Linux] How-To Install MonoDevelop

MonoDevelop is a cross-platform IDE primarily designed for C# and other .NET languages. In this writeup we will see how to install it on Linux.


1. Debian/Ubuntu:

$ sudo apt-get install mono-runtime
$ sudo apt-get install monodevelop

2. Fedora:

$ sudo yum install mono-core
$ sudo yum install monodevelop

3. OpenSuse:

zypper addrepo http://ftp.novell.com/pub/mono/download-stable/openSUSE_11.2 mono-stable
zypper refresh --repo mono-stable
zypper dist-upgrade --repo mono-stable
zypper install mod_mono

4. Compile Git version from source:

$ git clone git://github.com/mono/monodevelop
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo checkinstall
